Reading: Matthew 25:31-46
After the thousand years of Jesus’ reign on earth will come the Great White Throne Judgment. I believe Matthew 25:31-46 is part of that scene. But going back to my question—will politicians go to heaven (or which among them)? I don’t know—I will be judged myself, as I also belong to the human race. But in the reading above, we know that what we do or not do for the Lord’s family—we do or not do for Him.
My friend, if you are in a position of power, especially one wherein you are authoring or influencing policies—do you take the time to ponder whether those will result to food being taken away from families, bring them to such impoverished conditions that they could not afford decent clothing, make them susceptible to ill health, deny them health services and drive them to a life of crime (Proverbs 30:8-9)? The exchange may be some gain or business opportunities for you and your friends—but is it worth your soul?
It only takes a lustful eye to commit adultery (Matthew 5:28), and feelings of hate to be a murderer (1 John 3:15). It only takes your signature or your vote to oppress the poor, the aliens (migrants, refugees, asylum seekers) and people who are desiring to worship God peacefully in the purity of their faith.
If you are willfully rejecting these guidelines in life, I fear for you, my friend. I tremble for you. May the Lord reveal himself to you. And speaking of showing kindness toward those who are in the household of God… should you have a change of heart, please go all out—remember the Lord Jesus was born a Jew.
Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonours you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” – Genesis 12:1-3 (ESVUK)
