Reading: Matthew 9:18-34

How many of our desires are unfulfilled—only because we do not believe! If it is the best for us, if it is within God’s will and for his glory—will He not grant it? But we should believe and ask and pursue with wholehearted intent!

Ruler: “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live” (Matthew 9:18).
Jesus: “Don’t be afraid, just believe, and she will be healed” (Luke 8:50).

Sick woman: “If only I touch his cloak, I will be healed” (Matthew 9:21).
Jesus: “Take heart, daughter… your faith has healed you” (Matthew 9:22).

Two blind men: “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” (Matthew 9:27)
Jesus: “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” (Matthew 9:28)
Two blind men: “Yes, Lord.”
Jesus: “According to your faith will it be done to you” (Matthew 9:29).

My friend, let us be reminded of these verses:

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” – I John 5:13-15 (NIV)

“… You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” – James 4:2-3 (NIV)

Today, let us approach His throne to receive what he has already allotted for us.

    • Thank you, Sister. The Lord be glorified! I was reading your post last week–“Look and live”, and I was thinking how Sister Woods seemed to know what I have been reflecting on that day–and this happens frequently, actually! (My devotion that morning was about the ‘tongue’ in James’ epistle, and I was also wondering what I’d do if I were with the Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years!)

I love your posts very much. You write them with very deep understanding from the Holy Spirit, and you always present it to us, readers with freshness. They edify, inspire and bless me. Thank you, and the Lord richly bless you!
