Reading: Matthew 5:17-20
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” – Matthew 5:17-18 (NIV)
The Messiah who has been foretold by the Prophets has come.
The Messiah has accomplished for me what I could not on my own—fulfilling the Law to the letter, living a life free of sin.
The Messiah by taking my punishment, crucifying my sins with him on the cross, and resurrecting in victory, has washed my sins away, granted me righteousness and perfection—I am restored.
The Messiah by giving me the Holy Spirit enables me, day by day to follow in his footsteps. By his Holy Spirit he has marked me His.
“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” – John 19:30
